FAQ
What does the app actually do?+
It fills your screen with a simulated LED dot-matrix panel and scrolls whatever you type across it. You control the text colour, the background, the speed, the direction, the size, the border and the blinking — then hold the phone up so people can read it.
Can I use emoji in the banner?+
Yes. Emoji render as lit dots along with the rest of the text, so they scroll with the message rather than sitting outside it.
Can I save or share a banner?+
Yes — any banner can be exported as an animated GIF and then shared or saved to your device. That makes the same message usable in a chat, a story, or a group thread, not just in your hand.
Will it keep the screen on while the banner is showing?+
Yes, the display stays awake while a banner is running, so it will not dim or lock in the middle of a message.
How do I make it readable from further away?+
Three things, in order of effect: use high contrast (white or a single bright colour on black), make the text bigger by shortening the message, and turn on blinking. Enabling the flashlight to blink along with the banner adds noticeably more reach in a dark room.
Can I put an image behind the text?+
Yes. The background can be a flat colour or one of your own photos, with the lit text scrolling over the top of it.
Does it keep my previous messages?+
Yes. Everything you have shown is kept in the history tab, so a sign you made for a concert last year is one tap away the next time you need it.
Is it free?+
It is free to download and use. An optional premium subscription unlocks the full feature set: $2.99 for a month, $9.99 for a year, or $19.99 once for lifetime access. Prices vary a little by country.
Which languages does it support?+
The app interface is translated into more than 25 languages, and the banner itself renders any symbol present in the fonts — so you can write your message in a different language from the one the app is set to.
Is it on both iPhone and Android?+
Yes. It is on the App Store as LED Banner: LED Scroller Board and on Google Play as LED Banner - LED Scroller. Same app, different store titles.
Does it drain the battery?+
Running a bright screen at full brightness with the flashlight blinking will use power quickly — that is true of any app doing this. For a long event, turn the flashlight off and drop the brightness a little; the banner is still perfectly readable.
